How did you get the opportunity?
Having volunteered at the previous two Commonwealth Games held in the UK — Glasgow 2014 and Birmingham 2022 — I was eagerly waiting for applications to open in September 2025.
A detailed selection process followed, involving a number of different tasks and assessments. Thousands of people applied, and in March 2026 I was delighted to be offered a role at the Games.
What does your volunteering role involve?
At these Games, I will be working as the International Federation Services Team Leader for Judo.
The role involves leading a team responsible for supporting the International Federation representatives, staff and Technical Delegate at the competition venue. Our aim is to ensure they have a positive experience throughout the event and that all International Federation requirements are met.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to working alongside an amazing team of people and helping to deliver a fantastic Commonwealth Games judo experience for athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators.
What does volunteering at the Commonwealth Games mean to you?
Being selected to volunteer at my third Commonwealth Games is incredibly special.
I love having the opportunity to give something back to the sport and to use my knowledge and experience to help the Games run smoothly.
It is also wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new people and work together towards a shared goal. The friendships created through volunteering can last a lifetime.
Would you recommend volunteering?
Absolutely. Should the Commonwealth Games return to the UK, I would encourage anyone considering volunteering to apply.
It is an unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever and could shape your future in ways you may never have imagined.
