On-going commitment to get the basics right through improved communication channels, continued focus on equality and delivery of effective governance.
Underpinned by a member Charter, focus will be placed on improved communication with members, parents and officials through a new website, greater use of social media platforms and a refreshed newsletter. Continued investment in the WJA portal will streamline administrative support for clubs whilst new on-line surveys will provide an efficient way to seek feedback from the Judo community.
For some time, the benefits of sharing knowledge and experiences between players, coaches and support teams of different sporting communities have been recognised. During the next strategic plan period, increased attention will be given to multi-sport collaboration in Wales covering a range of subjects to support and improve performance and participation at all levels.
Having achieved the foundation and preliminary awards of the Equality standard, on-going effort will be made to achieve true equality across all areas of the organisation whilst also pursuing the Intermediate award. This will involve implementing a monitoring and feedback system to inform an equality plan. A learning and development programme will also be formed to create awareness and ensure equality is considered in all decisions made.
A commitment to Disability Sport Wales to ensure the needs of members with disabilities are met consistently across the organisation. This will continue the drive towards achieving an InSport ribbon and progression towards Bronze award in 2019. The aim is to upskill coaches and introduce specific training sessions and events to ensure Judoka with disabilities can participate fully.
Building on the foundations established over the past 4 years, including changes to the Articles of the Association and Board restructure, the next strategy period will see further commitment to achieving greater transparency, integrity and accountability. Part of this will see Board directors assuming responsibility for specific operational areas in place of sub-commissions.
