Improving technical skills and providing a clear pathway and support structure for competitive Judoka to reach their full potential.
Online Technical Framework
Accessible via WJAโs YouTube channel, the online Technical Framework provides step by step advice to develop Judo from beginner to winner. The Technical Framework applies the same structure of learning objectives, fundamental principles, technical advice, skill development and Judo games to a range of age groups from under 8s to under 18s.
Pre-cadet
Continued focus for pre-cadet is to create quality experiences for Welsh squad members. Building on the regular monthly training sessions these will be supplemented by opportunities to train and compete internationally. Pre-cadet training sessions will be linked to the Technical Framework, providing example drills to work on in between coached sessions each month.
Talent Cymru
Talent Cymru is a programme to identify and develop players for Commonwealth and Olympic success. As a Performance Pathway Centre the WJA academy provides a route the GB Centre of Excellence that was created during the last Olympic cycle. With constrained resources, focus must be directed for maximum impact and working with Sport Wales Sport Science Sports Medicine aim to provide tailored services to athletes on the programme.
Masterclass Series
Acknowledging the benefits of seeing and engaging with current and former international players a series of masterclasses will be delivered. These events importantly provide inspiration to the next generation of Judoka and an opportunity to learn competitive skills directly from world elite.
