Clean Sport - Anti Doping
Doping in sport remains a serious issue, putting an athlete’s health at risk, threatening the integrity of clean athletes and the reputation of the sport.
Welsh Judo, along with Sport Wales and British Judo works in partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and the International Judo Federation (IJF) to ensure that the integrity of our sport is protected. Welsh Judo fully endorses the testing programmes implemented by UKAD and the IJF. Athletes and coaches should be aware that testing may take place at competitions (deemed to be testing ‘in competition’) and at National Squad training sessions (deemed to be ‘out of competition’).
British Judo has in place a set of anti-doping rules that all athletes and athlete support personnel must abide by. The anti-doping rules for British Judo Association are consistent with the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code), the core document that harmonises anti-doping policies, rules and regulations within sport globally.
The anti-doping rules of British Judo Association are the rules published by UK Anti-Doping (or its successor), as amended from time to time. If you are a member of Welsh Judo Association then the anti-doping rules of British Judo Association apply to you, regardless of what level you participate at. You can find the UK Anti-Doping Rules here.
WADA
The World Anti-Doping Agency was founded with the aim of bringing consistency to anti-doping policies and regulations within sport organisations and government’s right across the world. WADA coordinated the development and implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code (Code), the document harmonising anti-doping policies in all sports and all countries.
UKAD
UKAD is responsible for ensuring sports bodies in the UK are compliant with the World Anti-Doping Code through implementation and management of the UK’s National Anti-Doping Policy.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions about the anti-doping rules. As well as asking Welsh Judo, coaches and others involved in athlete support, you may also contact UKAD directly, who will be able to answer any questions and provide guidance.
