The Welsh Judo Association is proud to congratulate Georgina Bevan on the award of her 6th Dan, recognising her outstanding technical ability and long-standing service to the sport.
Following her competitive career, Georgina has continued to give back to the sport she loves. She is the head coach of Doraiba Judo Club, where she shares her experience and knowledge with the next generation. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Welsh Judo, recently stepping away after years of valuable strategic contribution.
Georgina is a decorated and accomplished judoka:
– Multiple‑time British Judo Champion in the 52 kg division
– Gold medallist at the 2002 European Judo Championships in Maribor, Slovenia (–52 kg)
– Gold medallist at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester (–52 kg)
– Represented Great Britain in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, finishing 7th in the 52 kg class
This promotion also marks a historic milestone:
➡️ Georgina is the first female member of the Welsh Judo Association to be awarded the rank of 6th Dan.
Her promotion is a reflection not only of her exceptional judo career, but also her continued dedication as a coach, volunteer, and role model within the WJA community.
Congratulations, Georgina – a richly deserved recognition of a lifetime dedicated to judo. Thank you for everything you do.
