Sport Wales have this week announced that they will look to support more freelance and self-employed workers who deliver activity in the Welsh sport and leisure sectors.
The ‘Sport Freelancer Fund’ is opening up for a second round of applications, looking to help those who directly deliver physical activities to the Welsh public. Changes to the criteria mean that even more practitioners will now be able to take advantage of the fund.
The fund will open to applications at 12 noon on Thursday 21st January and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 3rd February. Through this second round, a payment of £2,500 will be available to applicants who can demonstrate how they’ve lost at least that amount in income from activities that would have taken place within Wales since March 2020 due to contracts being cancelled or restrictions halting their work.
A change in criteria means that those who received self-employed income support can now also apply for the fund. Those who received the Sport Freelancer Fund in December will automatically qualify for the increase in offer and are being contacted directly.
