Powell Secures Selection for The European Senior Championships

Natalie Powell has been selected to compete at The European Senior Championships this November. The competition will place between 19th and 21st November in the Czech Republic. In just over a month 153 judoka from 19 countries will come together once more to battle for a position on the podium to be crowned European Champion.

After returning to training at the Sport Wales National Centre following the Welsh Government announcement that elites could resume, Natalie Powell was itching to put her hard work she’d put in over lockdown into practice, and was delighted when she received the call up. Following her selection Natalie commented, “I can’t wait to compete at the Europeans next month!”

The Welsh judoka, who started her career at Irfon Judo Club continued to say, “I’m really excited to get back on the competition circuit again. It has been 9 months since I last competed. It has been great to get such a good block of training in. But without competitions to strive for it’s hard to know where you’re at, which makes me even more excited to get back on the mat.”

It is safe to say we are all looking forward to watching judo return and the whole of Wales will be cheering Powell on in Prague.
