We are excited to announce the arrival of Lucy Scott as our new CEO at Welsh Judo. Lucy joins us from the Football Association of Wales and arrives at a pivotal time as we embark on our new strategy and push to maximise reach and impact on communities across Wales. Following a rigorous selection process with an excellent pool of candidates we were pleased that Lucy accepted this position and will lead us through our next chapter and beyond.
Lucy said, “I am delighted to be joining Welsh Judo as the new CEO. Bringing experience from a broad sporting background, the values of the sport and Welsh Judo really attracted me to the role and align well with my own. Growing up and currently living in north Wales, combined with studying and living abroad, and across the UK, provides me with diverse experiences and perspective that I plan to use to be able to bring Judo to communities across Wales. I am looking forward to meeting the Judo family in Wales, and the wider Judo family across the world, and continuing to drive Welsh Judo forward”.
Marc Longhurst, Welsh Judo Chair, commented.
“Lucy brings a wealth of experience from other sports as well as a professional background in marketing. She is a former international tennis player having completed a scholarship in the United States before becoming Head Coach at Durham University. Lucy is a Level 4 Coach with excellent understanding of performance sport as well as operations management having been General Manager at one of the UKs largest Tennis Centres. I am particularly excited to be working with Lucy who brings a different perspective to the world of Judo as we embark on our new strategy for 2023-2026. We are lucky to have Lucy join us from the Football Association of Wales and would like to take the opportunity to welcome her to our Judo family in Wales”.
